Although Cartier, the Parisian jeweler to the stars, is often celebrated in horological circles for its iconic Tank Louis watch, there are many other models in their archives that are equally captivating and exquisite. In recent years, Cartier has delved into its rich history, reinterpreting select pieces for modern release under the prestigious Privé Collection.
The Cartier Colisée, named after the French word for colosseum, is one of the most intriguing round watches in Cartier's archive. This model family was produced from the 1970s to the 1990s. Its round case, distinguished by a broad bezel and integrated vertical lugs and bracelet attachment, offers a unique aesthetic. The subtle integration of the Cartier 'C' logo into the bracelet design is often overlooked.
This particular Colisée is in 18k yellow gold and measures 23x32 mm (measured with the lugs included!), featuring Cartier’s signature blue cabochon-setting crown and a clean white “Paris” signed dial with black painted Roman numerals and blued hands. The quartz-driven movement has been fully checked by our watchmaker, with a new battery fitted, and comes on a slightly used Cartier leather strap.
